Home Price List Why buy Ours Installation Pros-Cons Troubleshooting

Pros

Saving money by doing it yourself

Learning how your fridge works

Being able to blame no one but yourself if something goes wrong

Helping your friends when they want to swap their cooling units out

Cons

It always takes two people to do it right, especially if you have never done it before.

There may be extra screws or adhesives holding the fridge in place that are not mentioned in the installation manual (all coach manufacturers do not install the same way) so that when you go to push it out it may damage your cabinet or the paneling around the fridge.

Condensation over time can cause your fridge cabinet to swell on the sides making it very difficult to get the fridge out without damage, the cabinets on these fridges are actually quite fragile.

Removing the cooling unit without damaging the cabinet.  Dometic Cooling Units are foamed in the cabinet and are usually difficult to remove.

Norcolds are foamed outside the cabinet making them easier to separate, unless it's an older model where years of swelling from moisture can make them just as hard to deal with as the Dometics.

It easy to damage sensitive electronic components.  At that point it may end up costing you more than if you had a professional do the job.

If you have never done this before you should be aware that you need to set a side a day to get it done.  What is your time worth?  Should you risk damaging your fridge and your rig?  Or let a professional do it?

After watching us install their cooling unit, customers who had considered doing it themselves always tell us that they made the right decision by having us do it instead.
